My Little Helper

On Sunday Oscar decided to finally become useful around the house. Richard and I were straightening up and I was almost finished with the living room when I discovered some small trash under our recliner. I looked at the trash and decided that I had four options:

A: attempt to bend over and blindly try to get it.
B: get down on my hands and knees, get the item, and spend time, energy, and oxygen getting back up.
C: talk Richard into getting the item.
D: just ignore it and hope that one day I would have the energy to pick it up.

After thinking through each option I decided to go with just ignoring it. After all, it wasn’t hurting anyone and it didn’t look like food, so I moved on. Well my obsessive compulsive side started to come out and with every trip into the living room I found myself staring at this small piece of white trash that I wanted to get, but didn’t have the will to. Soon the small piece of trash started to grow in size and my only other option was to call for backup…Richard.

With Richard in the kitchen doing the dishes, I left the trash and began to inform him about my plight. Richard of course said ok, I just needed to give him a second to finish the dishes. That is when I turned around to find my cat by the recliner digging under the chair at the trash. That’s right, Oscar walked from the other side of the living room to the recliner where he proceeded to successfully remove the trash from under the chair for me. Now if only I could get him to do something really useful like fold laundry.
