Mrs. Debra

Emily with her physical therapist Mrs. Debra

This past month Emily has been seeing a physical therapist once a week in order to help fix the tightness on the right side of her neck. Although initially I would have never imagined muscle tightness being problematic to her development, I have since then learned that these tight muscles have in fact delayed her by about three months in developing her motor skills. In fact, because one side of her neck (her stronger side) has been over compensating for her weaker side, her muscle development has become uneven which has affected everything from her learning how to crawl to her even doing simple things like pulling herself up.

Now after a month of physical therapy, Emily has become a completely different girl. She crawls like a pro, pulls herself up to see everything, and puts her hands on anything she lays her eyes on. She is constantly moving and nothing seems to stop her - not even steps. It has not only been an amazing adventure to watch her progress, but it has also been a wild ride for us as we have gone through each new milestone on turbo drive. Every day seems to bring us closer to the final goal and now that we are finally right on track for her age we can really enjoy the rest of the ride.

10 Months Old

Emily...
  • Has 4 teeth (2 uppers and 2 lowers)
  • Likes to climb on and over everything
  • Is very curious
  • Wiggles, wiggles...wiggles
  • Loves Apple Jacks
  • And she thinks she is pretty cool when she walks (with help of course)

The Duck Pond

Although the ducks ran from us and refused to eat our bread, the weather was perfect, the nature sounds were peaceful, and Emily had a chance to learn two important aspects of life...
  1. It's great to stop and feel the grass between your toes.
  2. And grass is best to look at...not eat.

Just Us Girls

To celebrate my birthday I spent the weekend having a wonderful time hanging out with just "The Girls".

Emily and I first enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at my mom's. We had lunch, we looked through old photographs, and of course we did some good old fashioned talking.

Afterwords Emily and I ended our evening with a surprise visit to Ikea with my sister and her kids along with a late night visit to Panda Express' drive thru and a nice visit around their family table.
