This past month Emily has been seeing a physical therapist once a week in order to help fix the tightness on the right side of her neck. Although initially I would have never imagined muscle tightness being problematic to her development, I have since then learned that these tight muscles have in fact delayed her by about three months in developing her motor skills. In fact, because one side of her neck (her stronger side) has been over compensating for her weaker side, her muscle development has become uneven which has affected everything from her learning how to crawl to her even doing simple things like pulling herself up.
Now after a month of physical therapy, Emily has become a completely different girl. She crawls like a pro, pulls herself up to see everything, and puts her hands on anything she lays her eyes on. She is constantly moving and nothing seems to stop her - not even steps. It has not only been an amazing adventure to watch her progress, but it has also been a wild ride for us as we have gone through each new milestone on turbo drive. Every day seems to bring us closer to the final goal and now that we are finally right on track for her age we can really enjoy the rest of the ride.
