For the past month-and-a-half Emily has been sporting one very attractive pink helmet so as to reshape the flat spot on the left side of her head. Although to the medical world this helmet is only good for one thing, I find that the head reshaping qualities of this helmet is only a plus. For me, its real hidden purpose is to provide Emily with "extra" protection from her own curious self. That's right, this wonderful piece of plastic has prevented numerous tearful, crying-hysterical moments as she has face planted off the couch, side smacked walls, and head butted floors. Up to this point I can't even imagine how many scratches, bruises, and bumps this little girl would have had if we didn't have this thing on 23 hours a day. It has been wonderful.
The only problem now is Emily tends to think that climbing over and bouncing off couches and chairs and throwing her head against the wall to get her point across are all rather painless. So although we have prevented injuries now, I suppose that after all this is said and done and the helmet is off, we will probably make up for every single scratch, bruise, and bump that we have gone without.
