Mr. Pumpkin was adopted into the family back on October 23 when we attended our ward carnival. Although Emily mostly ran through the church building during the carnival (hence the reason why I never blogged about it), one thing that she did do was decorate a pumpkin. Because we really didn't trust her with markers, we just decorated hers with several Halloween stickers. Emily though thought this pumpkin was the coolest thing ever as she spent the rest of the evening running around with it in her hands.
Since then, anytime she sees Mr. Pumpkin in the house she will proceed to carry it around. Mr. Pumpkin has been in her room, in the kitchen, throughout the living room, the entry way, and even under our bed. I think she even tried to put him in her bath once. She has loved this pumpkin and until last night he has been just as beautiful and hard as the day we brought him home.
Yesterday though, Emily decided to carry Mr. Pumpkin out to the backyard and that is where I found him 8 hours later shriveled up and soft. Apparently he didn't like the fresh air as much as Emily thought he would. Unfortunately for Mr. Pumpkin, he now has a one-way flight in his future for the Fort Worth Landfill.
Bye-bye Mr. Pumpkin...
