With Emily's fascination of letters I decided about a month ago to start working with her on spelling. My hope initially was that she would find reading easier to grasp, but now it has become a game-something fun for her. When we started, we learned CAT and then progressed to CAR, DOG, and NEST.
Today I decided to throw a curve ball and introduce HAT. Although CAR was difficult for her to grasp after leaning CAT, she did quickly figure it out within a week. So, I figured that HAT would probably be about the same. I might be wrong.
Me (while holding up a piece of paper with the word HAT written out): HAT. H-A-T
Emily (with a big smile on her face): CAT
Me: No. HAT
Me (again, holding up the piece of paper in one hand and a hat in the other): H-A-T. HAT
Emily: Noooo...CAT
