Our trip started out with a late night of baking pretzels, buying salad fixings, cutting delicious fruit, and finalizing our zoo plans. In the morning we packed up a lunch that even Yogi the Bear would have been jealous of, and headed out to go see the animals.
Emily at first didn't quite see what was so exciting. She was unsure about the train ride and the petting zoo, but as soon as we reached the otters, her eyes started to glisten with joy and excitement. She finally caught "animal fever".
From that point forward she would run, point, jump, and announce for everyone to hear, "Look!"
Emily was always really careful to come up to each window nice and slow, carefully extending her hand until one of her fingers touched the glass.
You can never be too careful at the zoo...one should always make sure it is safe to proceed.
Towards the end of the trip we stopped off at the carousel. We took one trip around and around...and of course we had to make another trip around and around. After that, she found her favorite spot...right there with the pretty horses.
We ended the afternoon hot and tired, but it was well worth it! We are already looking forward to the next trip...and this time we will be sure to grab the camera (a cell phone can only do so much)!
