A Wonderful "Light Bulb" Kind of Day
Today was indeed a good day!
Today we accidentally stumbled upon Emily's light bulb moment...her "I've-got-this-potty-thing-down" kind of moment. For months we have been at the cross roads of understanding where we go tinkle and understanding the sensation that the body feels right before it needs to go. She would happily go to the potty, but unless you told her to go every 15 minutes, you were destined to be pulling out the cleaning products. A huge source of frustration for everyone involved.
After months of keeping it on the back burner (pulling out the potty every once in a while) we decided that this weekend we would pull it out. Our intention was never to walk away from this weekend successfully trained (nope, instead it was to heal this cute girl's very irritated, blistered bum), but in the end though, we were left stunned as we watched her stop playing and run from one side of the house to the other, plopping herself straight down onto her potty. Suddenly she got it!
We've spent the rest of our day cheering, giving high-fives, passing out bags of fruit snacks, and not once pulling out a single cleaning product. That's certainly not too shabby...I think I'll take it!!
