Earlier this week I was privileged to be under the care of
Mama-Emily. It was Tuesday morning and I awoke to the sounds of one really cute
curly-haired, bright-eyed child at the descent hour of 5:00 am. After waking up
and taking care of the zoo that resides in my house, I proceeded to lie back
down on the couch and attempted to encourage myself to wake up (really hard when my tummy was really not happy). Emily, jabbering her head off, came up to
me and proclaimed, “I give you hug”. It was by far the best hug I’ve ever had
as I laid there in a fetal position. She jabbered some more and sang a few songs,
and as soon as I decided to go take a comforting bath, she jumped into action.
She followed me in, assessed the situation, and confirmed that I was set up
with her most favorite bath toy (after all, I couldn’t take a bath without an
Ariel Mermaid doll). She safeguarded my safety, letting me know exactly when to
turn off my water (about 4 or so inches…yeah, I didn’t comply), and she made
sure to give me an additional hug, one very nice air kiss, a good back cleaning,
and a hair rinse with her elephant water pail (the icy cold water was certainly
a perk). She sang me several songs (Row Row Row Your Boat is always a nice choice),
and she never forgot her manners – she often invited me to join her in the
singing festivities.
Hands down though, the best part was when she remarked with
great pride, “I proud of you”. I smiled looking at a really big girl in front
of me and said, "I am really proud of you". That’s when she
lightly giggled and uttered the best words, “I proud of me!”
It was the best medicine EVER.
