Emily was indeed taken to NICU but her overall health appeared very good. We struggled for a couple of days to get her blood sugar under control, but once that was normal we were able to get her off of her IV. After that we lost the need to have her in an incubator and now we are just trying to get her to eat from a bottle. Once she is able to eat without needing a feeding tube we will be able to take her home.

Tough Moment
One of the scary parts of Emily’s birth was the fact that within seconds of entering the c-section room I was introduced to members from the NICU. Up to this point I was just trying to prepare myself for an emergency c-section; but now as I was staring at a NICU doctor I was starting to realize that there was obviously enough concern over Emily’s health that the hospital felt the need to have NICU ready in case she needed to be whisked away. I couldn’t help but panic.
